Novodofinivska Gymnasium
Nova Dofinivka village
Novodofinivska Gymnasium is an educational institution with its own history, closely connected with the development of the community of the village of Nova Dofinivka in the Odesa region. Although the official registration of the modern legal entity took place in December 2003, educational traditions in the village have much deeper roots.
Here is a brief overview of the institution:
History and Development
The history of education in Nova Dofinivka began with a small rural school. Over the decades, the institution transformed in accordance with the needs of the time:
The Soviet period and post-war years:Like most schools in the coastal villages of the Odesa region, the school evolved from a primary school to an eight-year school and later into a general secondary school. It was a center of culture and knowledge for local children, where teachers worked whose names are still remembered by older members of the community. The period of Independence: From 1991, the school began adapting to new Ukrainian educational standards. The modern stage: In 2003, the institution was officially registered as a general secondary school of I–II levels. Later, within the framework of educational reform, the institution received the status of a gymnasium. This means that it now provides primary education (grades 1–4) and basic secondary education (grades 5–9).
The Institution Today
Location: The gymnasium is located at: Nova Dofinivka village, 30 Shkilna Street. Administration: The director of the institution is Oksana Bohdanivna Ropotyn. Features: Today, the gymnasium is part of the educational network of the Fontanka Village Council. It is a modern institution that pays great attention not only to education but also to patriotic upbringing and the preservation of the traditions of the Odesa region. The staff includes about 18 teachers who work to create a comfortable and safe environment for students.
Despite the challenges of recent years (the pandemic and martial law), the gymnasium continues to operate, implementing digital technologies and maintaining a warm, almost family-like atmosphere typical of small rural schools.
Note: Detailed archival data on the establishment of the first school building are often kept in local museums or chronicles of the Fontanka community, as Nova Dofinivka has always been an important part of this region.
